I want to take a moment to thank Billy O’Regan and the TEC Spirituality Ministry Team for organizing a great workshop for all those involved in the spiritual direction of the TEC program. It was a great opportunity to gather together, to meet our peers from across the US, Canada, and the Bahamas.
I think it’s safe to say that we all receive many blessings as we share our time and talents with our TEC communities. Along with those blessings, we also face struggles and challenges, and many times we feel like we are the only one facing these issues. This workshop provided us with an opportunity to connect with our peers and to share some of our practices and approaches to dealing with the challenges we face. This workshop also allowed us some one on one time with the TEC Spirituality Ministry Team.
What a great use of time and energy! I plan to share what I learned with the leadership group in our TEC community to be able to address any challenges or struggles we face with confidence.
The Spiritual Directors’ workshop was August 12-14, 2019 at the Mercy Retreat Center in St. Louis. The presenting team included members of the Spirituality Ministry Team, Archbishop Gregory Aymond, Archbishop Roger Schwietz, Alison Tate (Youth Ministry Director for the Diocese of Austin) and Joan Weber (Center for Ministry Development). We enjoyed plenty of time for discussion, prayer and socialization in addition to five well-prepared presentations: The Spiritual Director of the TEC Community, TEC in relationship to the Diocese and Parish, The Spiritual process of the TEC Weekend, The Spiritual Director of the TEC Weekend and The spiritual perspective of “Generation Z”
The TEC Conference is drawing up plans for a similar workshop designed for Core Team or Board members from local TEC communities.
