Calling All Musicians for Encounter 2024!

Apr 24, 2024

In January 2024, more than 30 TEC musicians gathered for a Zoom conversation hosted by the Formation & Enrichment Ministry Team about their shared experience leading music on TEC weekends. It was an energetic conversation , leaving participants with a desire to connect again.

This summer, at TEC Encounter in Austin, we will provide TEC musicians with just such an opportunity-- this time, in person! Musicians will get to join Encounter's lead musician James Longoria (TEC of Central Texas) in leading music for our gathering, which includes during Saturday's vigil mass and at the Community First! Village, where Encounter participants will join residents for a praise and worship session. To facilitate this, we will circulate the mass and praise and worship music in advance of the gathering and provide some practice time at the event. We will also reserve all of Sunday morning for musicians to have a more extensive conversation about leading music on TEC. Musicians can share resources with each other, discuss challenging issues, and devise creative solutions.

If a musician would like to participate, but cannot travel with their instrument, we hope to provide support. As we are able to, we may be able to find a local guitar, bass, keyboard, etc. if it would allow a traveling musician to participate.

Musicians who plan to attend will need to register for Encounter on the main registration page. They will also need check-in on this short online form so that we know who is coming, if instrument support is needed, and which topics are most interesting for the Sunday dialogue.

Please share this with all your local TEC musicians. We're looking forward to a great turn out!
