Attendees MUST be 18 or older.
Encounter is not designed to turn a profit for the TEC Conference; rather, pricing is designed to cover the costs of all meals, lodging, programming resources, and keynote and other speaker stipends. The only income that the Conference brings in from Encounter is from the auction or individual donations. This year's event pricing is as follows:
Private Room (Private room, shared bathroom with private room neighbor) - $320
Double Room with Shared Bath (Two to a room, shared bathroom with double room neighbor) - $275/person
Young Adult Special (Ages 18-28, double room with shared bathroom with double room neighbor) - $150/person
Day Rate (Full program & meals, but no lodging) - $170/person
Married Couples - Double room (two to a room, shared bathroom with married couple neighbor) - $550 per couple
Married Couples - Day rate (Full program & meals, but no lodging) - $340 per couple
Mutually requested roommates will be paired together if both roommates register before May 31, 2024, when we will begin to create the rooming list. Any requested roommate who has not registered by May 31 may be assigned to a different room. For those who register for a double room but do not have a specific roommate request, we will assign roommates according to age range and gender.
Encounter 2024 will take place at St. Edward's University (3001 South Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78704). All participants (except those who register for the "day rate" and will find other lodging) will be staying in college dorms. Please note that there is a six-minute walk from the dorms to the meeting room where Encounter's main events will take place.
The university will provide pillows for those staying on campus but not sheets/linens or towels. Attendees will need to pack sheets and towels from home.
Those who may prefer to stay in a hotel instead of dorm room lodging should select "Day Rate" as their registration type and then book rooms in a nearby hotel of their choice. Here are some suggestions:

The day rate covers the cost of meals and programming for Encounter, but not lodging. Those selecting the day rate will attend in-person but must make plans to stay off-campus with a local friend or at a nearby hotel. The TEC Conference does not have any hotel blocks reserved this year.
Full refunds will be available until June 21, 2024. Partial refunds MAY be available until July 1, 2024.
For those flying, please fly into the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS).
Once you have booked your airfare, please send all flight information to erica@tecconference.org. We will arrange for members of the local host community (TEC of Central Texas) to collect those flying in and to bring them back to the airport after Encounter concludes.
