Giving Creatively

If you’re a member of the worldwide TEC community, there’s no doubt you are well acquainted with the incredible people whom TEC draws together. I’m always amazed at how many people contribute to the life of TEC and the various creative ways that people find to help.

Countless friends of TEC give charitably every year. Many others give their time and talent on one of our ministry teams. I’ve had people offer airline miles, stock donations, and monthly auto drafts as innovative ways to sustain this important ministry. People have charitably “donated” their birthdays to TEC on Facebook, shopped via AmazonSmile in support of TEC, and found other unique ways to help. There are even a number of people who have included TEC in their will!

Just recently, another member of the TEC family came forward with a creative way to support our ministry. Garrick Robert is a member of the TEC New Orleans community. His schedule makes it hard for him to be involved, but that has not dampened his enthusiasm for TEC. Garrick was recently opening a new restaurant, Salad Station, in the New Orleans area and wanted to have a “soft opening” to give his employees some practice with a limited number of patient visitors before real customers walked through the doors. He asked to partner with TEC, which advertised the soft opening. Visitors received a free meal and got to reconnect with members of their TEC family. Anyone who wanted to give a donation to TEC was invited to do so at the cash register.

It turned out to be a good deal of fun! We got to eat a meal together as a TEC community, including with many of our families and children. We also raised more than $400 for TEC, shared between TEC New Orleans and the TEC Conference! Check out our video below for an interview with Garrick during the soft opening.

If you’ve got a creative idea to support the TEC Conference or your local TEC community, give us a call at 504-227-3233 to talk about it. And, as always, your prayers for our young people and for the TEC movement are deeply appreciated!
