Megan Wortmann Burks (Grand Island TEC and Omaha Rural TEC) married John Burks (Grand Island TEC) on September 29, 2018. John was the lay director for Grand Island TEC, and Megan is the Nebraska State Representative for the TEC Leadership Council. Megan was happy to answer some questions about the importance of TEC to her relationship.
What does TEC mean to you individually?
TEC changed my life growing up. It was the first thing to make me understand just how truly important God is, and it helped to develop my relationship with Christ. TEC gave me a better understanding of Christ’s mysteries.
What does TEC mean to your relationship?
TEC is important to us. When John was lay director, we were always having good conversations about how to improve our TEC retreats. God has worked through both of us to draw us closer. On one TEC, I was giving a reflection, and it’s weird to explain, but we were really connecting during that reflection. We help each other get closer to Christ. It’s important to share your faith with other people and help others to grow in their own faith.
What do you think is the importance of TEC and community in any relationship?
When my sister passed away, my TEC family pulled me together. I’m involved in two different TEC centers (Grand Island and Omaha Rural), but both have the same strong sense of community. There’s a sense of support, love and encouragement. TEC is so important to me, and I’m grateful to have these communities in my life!
