The TEC Conference’s Leadership Council met in Puerto Rico from January 24-25, 2025, for their annual winter meeting. This special opportunity to hold the meeting on the island allowed Council members to meet with various members of the Puerto Rican community who continue to hope and work towards Puerto Rico TEC’s first retreat. Along with very fruitful discussions regarding their particular situation, the Council’s agenda also included:
- Executive Director report and annual goals
- Affirmation of the 2025 Heritage Award winners
- Financial, fundraising, and investment objectives
- Review of TEC community reports
- Analysis and affirmation of the 2025-2026 budget
- 60th Anniversary celebration report
- Strategic goal advancements
Four of our current Council members will conclude their terms in March, and we thank Nick Steinkamp (Executive Team Chair), Sierra Altenstadter (Kentucky State Rep), Marty Afflerbaugh (Region 10 Coordinator), and Joseph Wizieck (Illinois State Rep) for their years of service to the TEC Conference. Nick and Sierra were present at this meeting and were gifted with a print of one of TEC founder Fr. Matthew Fedewa’s favorite paintings.
We thank all those who were able to travel for this meeting as well as the Council members who were not able to join us in person but attended via Zoom. Their hard work continues to move this ministry forward so that the Conference can provide resources to local TEC communities. We’d also like to thank Daniel Silva from the prospective Port Hope community in Canada for joining us over Zoom and providing his thoughts and encouragement to our Puerto Rican brothers and sisters on the process of starting a new TEC center.
Several Council members were able to stay after the meeting and were treated to a tour of Old San Juan, El Yunque rainforest, and several delicious meals by our Council’s Spanish-speaking representatives, Rafi and Sandra Robert. Their boundless hospitality was an amazing gift!
The Council will meet by Zoom in the spring, in person over the summer before the 60th Anniversary celebration, and again by Zoom in the fall. We remain so grateful for the gift of each member and what they bring to this ministry!
